Dear sir/madam,

I am writing to you to express my deepest concern about the dog and cat fur trade. I have learned that you do not want to follow the United States and European Union in banning this trade.

Undercover investigations by HSI and others have revealed extreme suffering in the production of fur in China. Live skinning of animals has been repeatedly documented, including video of a German shepherd
being skinned alive in plain view on a public street.
Dogs and cats in China are being bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and strangled with wire nooses so that their fur can be turned into trim and trinkets.

This fur is often deliberately mislabeled as fur from other species and is exported to countries throughout the world to be sold to unsuspecting customers in retail stores.

I respectfully ask you to follow the European Union's lead by advocating a ban on the commerce of cat/dog furs into Canada.
